Gold trades globally in US dollars per troy ounce. To get a local per-gram price, we convert to your currency and divide by 31.1035 grams, then adjust for karat purity. This is the metal’s spot value — useful for valuing what you own or for zakat, but not the final shop price, which includes a premium.

Frequently asked questions
How is the gold price per gram calculated?+
The international spot price is quoted per troy ounce (about 31.1 grams). We divide it by 31.1035 to get the price per gram, then multiply by the karat purity (e.g. 22K = 22/24).
What is the difference between 24K, 22K, 21K and 18K?+
Karat measures purity out of 24. 24K is pure gold, 22K is 91.7% gold, 21K is 87.5%, and 18K is 75%. Lower karats contain more alloy, so they cost less per gram.
Why does the jeweller charge more than this price?+
This is the raw spot value of the metal. Jewellers add a premium plus making/workmanship charges, and may add VAT, so the shop price is higher than spot.
