Bahrain's shops post per-gram rates for 21K and 22K and add a making charge, with 10% VAT applied to the full invoice — the highest gold VAT in the Gulf after Saudi Arabia. The dinar's dollar peg fixes the metal price to the world market, so the VAT and the making charge are the whole difference between shops and between Bahrain and its neighbours.
