Gold trades globally in US dollars per troy ounce. To show the price in TRY, we convert at the live exchange rate and divide by 31.1035 grams, then adjust for karat purity. That is why the local price moves with both the gold market and the TRY exchange rate.

Gold is Turkey's household savings account: with the lira's long inflation history, families hold Republic coins (Cumhuriyet Altını) and quarter coins (çeyrek), gifted at weddings and births, alongside 22K bilezik bracelets that trade close to bullion value.
