Amman's gold souq trades 21K as the standard — stamped and priced per gram — with 24K bars ('ounce and lira') for saving. The dinar's dollar peg means local prices track international spot one-for-one.
Gold remains the traditional bridal gift (the shabka), and Jordanian hallmarking is strictly enforced by the Ministry of Industry and Trade assay office.
