Gold trades globally in US dollars per troy ounce. To show the price in MXN, we convert at the live exchange rate and divide by 31.1035 grams, then adjust for karat purity. That is why the local price moves with both the gold market and the MXN exchange rate.

Gold in Mexico: the local market
Mexico's iconic coin is the Centenario — 37.5 g of fine gold, minted since 1921 — sold through banks and traded as the standard large investment piece. Jewelry runs 10K and 14K, lighter than Middle Eastern or Asian norms.
