Stripe Fees in Singapore (2026): Cards vs PayNow
By the Profitvana Editorial Team · Updated August 2026
Singapore has one of the highest Stripe card rates of any developed market — and one of the cheapest alternatives sitting right next to it in the same dashboard. Most Singapore businesses pay 3.4% because nobody told them PayNow costs 1.3%. Here are the 2026 numbers.
Card rates: 3.4% + S$0.50
Stripe charges 3.4% plus a fixed S$0.50 per successful card transaction in Singapore. On S$100 that is S$3.90; on S$1,000, S$34.50.
For comparison, the same transaction costs 2.9% + 30¢ in the US and 1.5% + 20p in the UK. Singapore's rate is high because card interchange there is uncapped, not because Stripe prices the market differently.
PayNow at 1.3% — the line most merchants miss
Stripe supports PayNow transfers in Singapore at 1.3% per successful transfer, with no fixed fee. On the same S$100 sale that is S$1.30 against S$3.90 by card — a two-thirds saving, on a payment method almost every Singaporean already uses.
The saving scales without limit because there is no fixed component: on S$10,000 of monthly sales, moving half of them to PayNow saves about S$105 a month; on S$100,000, more than S$1,000.
| Sale | Card (3.4% + S$0.50) | PayNow (1.3%) | Saved |
|---|---|---|---|
| S$20 | S$1.18 | S$0.26 | S$0.92 |
| S$100 | S$3.90 | S$1.30 | S$2.60 |
| S$500 | S$17.50 | S$6.50 | S$11.00 |
| S$2,000 | S$68.50 | S$26.00 | S$42.50 |
International cards and conversion
A card issued outside Singapore adds 0.5%, taking the rate to 3.9% + S$0.50. If Stripe also has to convert the currency, add a further 2%, for 5.9% + S$0.50.
The 0.5% international surcharge is mild by Stripe's standards; the 2% conversion is not. As everywhere, pricing in your own currency and letting the buyer's bank convert avoids it entirely.
What this means in practice
For a Singapore business, the fee strategy is unusually clear-cut: offer PayNow prominently at checkout for local customers, keep cards for everyone else, and price in Singapore dollars.
A store doing S$30,000 a month with a 50/50 split between PayNow and cards pays roughly S$705 in Stripe fees. The same store card-only pays about S$1,170. That difference is a part-time salary, and it costs one checkout setting to capture.
Frequently asked questions
How much does Stripe charge in Singapore?
3.4% plus a fixed S$0.50 per card transaction for Singapore-issued cards. Cards issued abroad add 0.5%, and currency conversion adds a further 2%.
Is PayNow cheaper than cards on Stripe?
Substantially. PayNow costs 1.3% with no fixed fee against 3.4% + S$0.50 for cards, so a S$100 sale costs S$1.30 instead of S$3.90 — a two-thirds saving that grows with order value.
Why are Stripe's Singapore card rates higher than the UK's?
Card interchange in Singapore is not capped by regulation, while UK and EU interchange is. Stripe's rate reflects the underlying network cost rather than a market-specific markup.
What does an international card cost on Stripe Singapore?
3.9% + S$0.50 — the domestic 3.4% plus a 0.5% international surcharge. Add 2% more if the currency has to be converted, for a worst case of 5.9% + S$0.50.
