Amazon Canada Seller Fees (2026): Rates, Tiers, and Break-Evens
By the Profitvana Editorial Team · Updated August 2026
Amazon Canada has the lowest subscription break-even of any Amazon marketplace we cover — twenty units a month — and two categories priced in tiers rather than a flat percentage, which changes what is worth listing. Here are the 2026 numbers.
Plans: the break-even is only 20 units
The Professional plan costs CAD $29.99 a month. The Individual plan costs nothing monthly but charges $1.49 per item sold.
$29.99 ÷ $1.49 = about 20 units a month. That is the lowest threshold of any Amazon marketplace on this site — the UK needs 34 units, Australia 51 — because Canada's per-item fee is comparatively high rather than because the subscription is cheap.
In practice it means almost any serious Canadian seller should be on the Professional plan from the start.
Referral fees, including two tiered categories
Most categories charge a flat percentage with a CAD $0.40 minimum per item. Two are priced in tiers, and both tiers matter:
Beauty and health charge 8% at or below $15 and 15% above it — so a $14.99 product pays $1.20 and a $15.01 product pays $2.25. Jewelry runs the other way: 20% up to $325 and only 5% on the portion above, which makes high-value pieces far cheaper proportionally than small ones.
| Category | Referral fee |
|---|---|
| Everything else | 15% |
| Electronics | 8% |
| Automotive | 12% (min CAD $0.40) |
| Beauty / health ≤ $15 | 8% |
| Beauty / health > $15 | 15% |
| Jewelry, first $325 | 20% |
| Jewelry, portion above $325 | 5% |
| Minimum referral fee | CAD $0.40 (grocery: none stated) |
The jewelry tier is worth doing the arithmetic on
Because the 20% band is capped at $325 and everything above it is charged at 5%, the effective rate falls as the price rises — the opposite of the beauty tier.
A $300 piece pays 20% flat: $60. A $1,000 piece pays $65 on the first $325 plus $33.75 on the remaining $675 — $98.75, an effective 9.9%. A $3,000 piece pays an effective 6.7%.
For a jewelry seller, that structure argues for higher-value inventory rather than volume in the $100–300 range, where the effective rate is at its worst.
| Sale price | Referral fee | Effective rate |
|---|---|---|
| CAD $150 | $30.00 | 20.0% |
| CAD $325 | $65.00 | 20.0% |
| CAD $1,000 | $98.75 | 9.9% |
| CAD $3,000 | $198.75 | 6.6% |
The beauty cliff at $15
The reverse trap sits in beauty and health, where crossing $15 nearly doubles the fee: $1.20 at $14.99 against $2.25 at $15.01.
A product priced at $15.01 nets $12.76 while one at $14.99 nets $13.79. You would need to charge about $16.30 to match what $14.99 already returned — so if your price is drifting just over the line, it is usually worth pulling it back under.
Run either scenario in the Amazon fee calculator, and compare how the same platform prices the neighbouring market in Amazon UK seller fees.
Frequently asked questions
How much does Amazon Canada take per sale?
15% in most categories, 8% in electronics, and 12% in automotive, with a CAD $0.40 minimum per item. Beauty and health are 8% at or below $15 and 15% above it; jewelry is 20% up to $325 and 5% on the portion above.
Is the Professional plan worth CAD $29.99 a month in Canada?
It pays for itself at about 20 units a month ($29.99 ÷ $1.49 per item on the Individual plan) — the lowest break-even of any Amazon marketplace we cover, so most Canadian sellers should be on it from the start.
How does Amazon Canada's jewelry fee work?
20% on the first CAD $325 of the sale price and 5% on anything above. That makes the effective rate fall as price rises: 20% on a $300 piece, 9.9% on a $1,000 one, and 6.6% on a $3,000 one.
Why did my beauty product's fee double?
Beauty and health are tiered at CAD $15: 8% at or below, 15% above. A $15.01 product pays $2.25 where a $14.99 one pays $1.20, so you would need about $16.30 to net the same as $14.99.
