Shopify Fees in Ireland (2026): Plans, Card Rates, Break-Evens

By the Profitvana Editorial Team · Updated August 2026

Irish Shopify merchants get the low European card rates that come with capped EEA interchange, on a plan ladder priced a little above the UK's. The number that decides most Irish stores' bills is neither of those — it is the 2% penalty for not using Shopify Payments. Here are the 2026 figures.

What each plan costs

Prices in euro, excluding VAT; the yearly column is the effective monthly price paid annually.

Basic32 €24 €2% + 0,25 €1.7%2%
Grow92 €69 €1.7% + 0,25 €1.6%1%
Advanced384 €289 €1.5% + 0,25 €1.5%0.6%

Upgrade break-evens

Basic to Grow costs 60 € more a month and saves 0.3% per sale, so it breaks even at about 20.000 € in monthly card sales. Grow to Advanced costs 292 € more for a further 0.2%, needing roughly 146.000 € a month.

Those are meaningfully higher thresholds than the UK's — where Basic to Grow breaks even near £13.300 — because the Irish plans cost more while the rate gaps are the same. Below 20.000 € a month, Basic is simply the right plan.

The 2% gateway penalty dwarfs everything else

Take payments through a provider other than Shopify Payments and Shopify adds 2% on Basic, 1% on Grow, or 0.6% on Advanced — on top of whatever that provider charges.

On Basic that 2% is the same size as the entire card rate it sits beside. On 15.000 € of monthly sales it is 300 € a month, nearly ten times the plan price, and you still pay your gateway's own fees.

For Irish stores the practical rule is simple: use Shopify Payments unless a payment method your customers genuinely need is unavailable through it.

A realistic month at 8.000 €

A Basic-plan Irish store doing 8.000 € across 120 orders on Shopify Payments: 32 € for the plan, 160 € in percentage fees, 30 € in fixed fees — 222 €, or 2.8% of revenue, before VAT.

That is among the cheapest all-in costs of any Shopify market we cover, and it is entirely a function of the EEA interchange cap. Compare with Singapore at roughly 4.1%, the UK, and Canada, or run your own figures in the Shopify fee calculator.

Frequently asked questions

How much does Shopify cost per month in Ireland?

32 € for Basic, 92 € for Grow, and 384 € for Advanced, excluding VAT. Paid annually those become an effective 24 €, 69 €, and 289 € a month.

What does Shopify charge per sale in Ireland?

Through Shopify Payments: 2% + 0,25 € on Basic, 1.7% + 0,25 € on Grow, and 1.5% + 0,25 € on Advanced online. In person it is 1.7%, 1.6%, and 1.5% with no fixed fee.

When is it worth upgrading from Basic to Grow in Ireland?

At roughly 20.000 € in monthly card sales. The upgrade costs 60 € more and saves 0.3% per sale, so below that revenue the lower rate does not repay the higher plan.

What does using PayPal or Stripe instead of Shopify Payments cost in Ireland?

An extra 2% on Basic, 1% on Grow, or 0.6% on Advanced, on top of that provider's own fees. On Basic the penalty is as large as the entire card rate it replaces.

Shopify fees in other countries

Shopify prices every market differently — the same sale can cost twice as much depending on where your business is registered. We verify each of these against Shopify’s own published fee page for that country:
