Facebook Marketplace charges a single selling fee when a buyer pays through Marketplace checkout and the item ships. Meta's published rate is 10% of the transaction total per shipment — item price plus the shipping charged to the buyer — with a floor of $0.80 per shipment. The fee already covers payment processing, so there is no separate card or payout charge on top.
The minimum matters more than it looks. On anything under $8, the $0.80 floor is a higher percentage than 10%: a $5 phone case costs you $0.80 in fees, which is 16% of the sale. Below that price point Marketplace is not the cheap option it appears to be.

Why so many sites still say 5%
For several years Meta's shipped-order fee was 5% per shipment with a $0.40 minimum, and the number spread across every fee-comparison article on the web. Meta later doubled both figures. Most of those articles were never revisited, and a reader searching in 2026 is more likely to land on a stale 5% than the current 10%.

Facebook Marketplace against the other resale apps
On a $100 shipped sale, Marketplace's 10% sits in the middle of the resale pack — the same as Mercari, half of Poshmark, and well above Depop's processing-only fee for US sellers. The comparison flips under $15, where Poshmark's flat $2.95 and Depop's $0.45 fixed fee change the ranking.
Two things the table does not capture: on Marketplace, local pickup is genuinely free, which no other app offers; and Marketplace buyers skew toward local, cash-in-hand purchases, so a seller who wants zero fees can often get them by declining to ship at all.

Keeping more of each sale
Offer local pickup where it is practical — it is the only fee-free route. For shipped items, avoid listing anything under about $8 individually; bundle small items so the 10% rate, not the $0.80 minimum, applies. And price shipping realistically: the 10% is charged on the shipping you collect as well as the item, so under-charging for postage costs you twice.
