Half the fee, and a different shipping model
Mercari charges sellers a flat 10% of the item price plus buyer-paid shipping, with no separate processing fee since January 2025. Poshmark charges $2.95 on sales of $15 and under and 20% above. On every sale over $15, Mercari's fee is exactly half of Poshmark's; under $15, Poshmark's flat fee is higher still — $2.95 on a $12 item against Mercari's $1.20.
The shipping models differ in a way the table hides. Poshmark's buyer pays a flat label price that never touches the seller's fee. Mercari's 10% is charged on the shipping the buyer pays as well as the item, so a seller who under-prices shipping loses twice. Mercari's buyers also pay a 3.6% Buyer Protection fee at checkout, which raises the price they compare.

Why sellers still list on Poshmark
Sell-through. Poshmark's social features and fashion-focused audience move clothing and accessories that sit unsold on Mercari, and its buyer-funded labels remove the shipping-pricing problem entirely. Mercari's audience is broader — electronics, toys, home goods — and its lower fee rewards sellers whose items sell on price rather than presentation. For a $60 dress, ten points of fee is $6; whether Poshmark's audience is worth $6 per sale is the whole question.
Cross-listing arithmetic
Most resellers list on both and let the buyer decide. Price the Poshmark listing higher to cover the extra ten points, accept offers on Mercari knowing the 10% is charged on the accepted price, and bundle low-priced items on Poshmark so orders land above $30, where its effective rate settles at 20% rather than the 25–30% the flat fee produces on cheap single items.
