Etsy Fees Explained (2026): Every Charge, Clearly

Etsy does not charge one simple fee — it stacks four standard charges and several conditional ones. Here is every charge a seller faces in 2026, what each is calculated on, what they add up to on real sales, and the fees that only some sellers pay. Listing fee — $0.20

You pay $0.20 to publish a listing, whether or not it sells. The listing lasts four months; if it has not sold, it renews automatically for another $0.20 unless you turn auto-renew off. When an item sells, the listing renews immediately (another $0.20) so it stays live. Quantity listings — one listing with several units — renew per unit sold, so a listing with ten units costs $0.20 to publish and $0.20 each time a unit sells. The fee is charged in US dollars for all sellers.

Transaction fee — 6.5%

Etsy takes 6.5% of the total the buyer pays: the item price plus the shipping and gift-wrap charges you set. It does not include sales tax that Etsy collects. This is the largest standard fee for most sellers and the one that scales with price; because it applies to shipping, offering free shipping and folding postage into the item price does not change the fee base.

Payment processing — about 3% + $0.25

Etsy Payments charges a per-order processing fee that depends on the seller's country: 3% + $0.25 in the US, 4% + £0.20 in the UK, 4% + €0.30 in most of the eurozone, 3% + C$0.25 in Canada and 4% + A$0.25 in Australia. It applies to the full order total including shipping and tax. There is no separate PayPal fee: Etsy Payments is the only checkout on Etsy in supported countries.

What the standard fees add up to

For a US seller, the three standard fees on a sale with free shipping come to 9.5% + $0.45. The fixed fees matter on cheap items and fade on expensive ones.

Offsite Ads — 12% or 15% on attributed sales

Etsy advertises listings on Google, Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest and elsewhere at its own expense. If a buyer clicks one of those ads and buys from your shop within 30 days, Etsy charges an Offsite Ads fee on that order: 12% for shops that made $10,000 or more in the previous 365 days, 15% for smaller shops that choose to take part. Shops under $10,000 can opt out; shops that cross it are enrolled permanently. The fee is capped at $100 per order.

It applies only to attributed sales, but when it hits it is the biggest fee on the order: a $100 attributed sale costs $21.95 in total. Most shops see a minority of orders attributed, so the sensible way to plan for it is a blended rate — if 20% of orders are attributed, budget 2.4% across all sales.

Conditional fees that only some sellers pay

Currency conversion: 2.5% when your listing currency differs from your payout bank account's currency. Regulatory operating fee: a small percentage added in some countries (for example the UK, France, Italy, Spain and Turkey) to cover digital services taxes. Etsy Ads (onsite): a daily budget you set, charged per click, separate from Offsite Ads. Pattern: $15 a month for a standalone site. Etsy Plus: $10 a month for extra listing credits and customisation. In-person sales through Square: Square's processing rate plus a $0.20 Etsy fee for listings synced from Etsy.

Fees on refunds and cancellations

When you refund an order in full, Etsy refunds the transaction fee and the percentage part of the processing fee; the $0.20 listing fee and the fixed $0.25 processing component are not returned. Partial refunds return the fees proportionally. Cancelling an order before it ships returns the transaction fee as well.
